This Month In BibleKnights
This month BibleKnights is exploring Gentleness. Our Big Truth is: Gentleness is knowing when strength needs a softer touch. Kids are learning that gentleness is not weakness, ignoring boundaries, or just being quiet. It is using our strength, words, choices, and attention with wisdom and care. In Matthew 19:13-15, Jesus welcomes children when others try to keep them away. That story helps us notice how Jesus gives children attention, dignity, and room to come close. At home, you might hear your child talk about being strong and gentle at the same time, slowing down before reacting, or making room for someone who could be overlooked.
Talk About It
Try one of these during ordinary moments. No formal family devotional required.
- When did someone use gentle words with you today?
- When is it hard to slow down before reacting?
- Can you think of a time when being gentle took real strength?
- Who might need us to make a little more room for them?
- What does a strong and gentle response sound like?
- When is it important to say "stop" or ask for help?
- How can our words have a softer touch this week?
Try It Together
These are simple 5-10 minute practices for ordinary home life. Use one, change it, or skip it if the moment is not right.
The Right Touch
Choose a few household objects that need different kinds of handling: paper, a pillow, a cup, a book, a piece of fruit, or something fragile. Ask, "How do you know how much strength this needs?" Then talk about how words and relationships can need different kinds of care too.
Pause And Try Again
Pick a low-stakes moment, like putting away a toy, closing a drawer, or asking for help. If someone rushes or gets frustrated, pause and try the same action again with a softer voice or slower movement. Keep it light, not corrective.
Make Room
At a table, on a couch, or during a game, look for one small way to make room for someone else. It might mean giving someone a turn, listening first, moving over, or noticing someone who feels left out.
Everyday Moments
Formation often happens in the small moments families already have.
On The Way
Ask: Where might someone need a little extra patience from us today?
At The Table
Ask: What is one way words can be strong without being harsh?
When Things Get Frustrating
Try saying: Let us pause and choose the amount of strength this moment needs.
At The End Of The Day
Ask: Did anyone make room for you today? Did you make room for someone else?
Pray Together
Keep prayer simple. Children can join silently, repeat a phrase, or simply listen.
Short Prayer
Jesus, help our family use our words and strength with wisdom and care. Amen.
Optional Prompt
Invite anyone who wants to share: Jesus, help me be gentle when _____. Passing is always okay.

Subject: BibleKnights at home: Gentleness
Hi families, This month BibleKnights is exploring Gentleness. Our Big Truth is: Gentleness is knowing when strength needs a softer touch. We are connecting this idea with Matthew 19:13-15, where Jesus welcomes children when others try to keep them away. Kids are learning that gentleness is not weakness, being quiet all the time, or ignoring boundaries. Gentleness means using our strength, words, choices, and attention with wisdom and care. One simple question to ask this week: When can being gentle take real strength? One easy thing to try at home: choose a few household objects, like paper, a pillow, a cup, a book, or a piece of fruit. Talk about how each one needs a different kind of touch, then connect that to how our words and relationships need care too. Thanks for helping continue good conversations in ordinary moments.
